The PTO is a very active group of Parents and Teachers in the middle school.  We have our meetings at 12:30 on the 1st  Tuesday of the month in the library.  Everyone is welcome to come.  If you can't come, that is ok too.  We need everyone's help to make the PTO run.  We understand that parents have jobs, and other kids, and lives that keep us all VERY busy.  Please don't think that because you are (insert your situation here) you can't help.  We need EVERYONE to help.

 Our budget was set at the 1st meeting of the year.  We work hard to stay in budget and to do the most with the money that we receive from donations.  Our PTO budget for the 2014-2015 is $3,280.  Thank you to all that were able to contribute money to the PTO.  If you have not been able to do that yet it is never too late.  We also collect ink cartridges to earn money for the PTO.  Those can be turned in at the office/teachers room.   If you shop at Target, Safeway, or Yokes you can use their cards to also earn money for the school.  Safeway and Yokes use E-script, please make sure to sign up for that card.

 The PTO is using Volunteerspot.com to help with sign ups for activities during the school year.  Volunteerspot.com will send out an email to your email account.  There is a link in that email that is specific to the school and the event.  Please watch for those emails, visit the link, sign up for your spot, and volunteerspot will send you a reminder email two days before the event.  We also have a page on Facebook.  Please like the page "Desert Hills Middle School PTO" for updates and other school reminders."

The following is a list of the different events that the PTO helps with, how many volunteers usually needed, and the month the events usually happen

 

ASB fundraiser (1 person everyday for 2 weeks,  6-7 people for three days collecting money)-September

Music Jog-A-Thon (2-3 parents) - October 9

Hawk Trot (candy donations or money for purchasing the 6 turkeys, 6 chickens, 6 game hens)-November 26

Scholastic Book Fair (1 person per shift, shifts to be decided, over 3-4 days)-February

8th Grade Honors Breakfast (8-10 volunteers)

8th Grade Party (15-20 volunteers)-June

Ink Cartridge Collection-year round

Parent/Teacher Conference meal for the teachers (3-4 volunteers to do the mailing, volunteers to donate food items)November

Jingle Bell Walk (12 volunteers, cookies for the students)-December

School Socials (usually 3 per year-2:45-4:15pm)-(15 volunteers) 1st one is scheduled for 10/31
